Hope and optimism
In the world of art, 2 + 2 never equals 4. For example, a gifted watercolour painter has his brush, his paints, his paper and his talent – and the sum of the end product always works out better than the sum of the individual parts.
Running a city is no different, with success dependent on how all the ingredients are managed and perceived. Investment is a decision made by individuals and businesses about where they’re going to live and work. If we create the perception that Manchester is a great and positive place to live, we’ll flourish. But if there are negative perceptions and feelings about the direction we’re going, we won’t. I believe our greatest strength lies in the intangible wealth of our region.
The chosen Mayor must bring with him or her a positive vibe that instils hope and optimism for the future. Without this, we’re all knackered!
